Boardering Romania to the north along the river Danube, the Black Sea coast to the east, Greece and Turkey to the south, Serbia and Montenegro and the Republic of Macedonia to the west.
It occupies the central part of Balkan peninsula on both sides of the Balkan Range (the Balkans), from which the peninsula has taken its name.
Bulgaria has around 600 natural springs, these make for excellent baths and health spas famous among tourists. After the end of the communist government it has made a concerted effort to meet the needs of tourism.
On it´s eastern border, the Black Sea coast famous for it´s sandy beaches is popular among tourists. Sofia with its mix of old and new architecture is a fantastic place to visit for all ages.
